Amid tensions between Iran and Israel, Lufthansa suspends flights to Tehran

German flag carrier Lufthansa suspends daily flight to Iran.

The German airline Lufthansa has announced that it will be suspending further flights to and from the Iranian Capital of Tehran due to the current tensions in the Middle East.

The flights LH600 and LHR601 are operated by Airbus 340-300 aircraft from/to Frankfurt and Tehran. However they have already been cancelled since 6th April 2024.

Lufthansa said it had suspended flights to and from Tehran until probably April 13, extending its suspension by two days.

Austrian Airlines – which is owned by Lufthansa – is still planning to fly #OS871 on Thursday to Teheran but it looks the flight will leave late.

Tensions between Iran and Israel

Countries in the region and the United States have been on high alert and preparing for a possible attack by Iran in response to the April 1 airstrike on the Iranian consulate in Syria suspected to have been conducted by Israeli warplanes.

Confusion during past night

An Iranian news agency had published an Arabic report on the social media platform X saying all airspace over Tehran had been closed for military drills, but then removed the report and denied issuing such news.
