A GOL Linhas Aereas Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft flew only few meters from an unmanned balloon on approach to Airport.
The Boeing 737 MAX (reg. PS-GPL) was performing flight #G31837 from Porto Alegre (POA) to Rio De Janeiro (GIG), Brazil on December 17th, 2023.
While on approach Rio De Janeiro, the aircraft came in close proximity of an unmanned balloon with a banner.
The balloon was at the same altitude while passengers saw it thru the left windows.

The pilots reported the incident to ATC and the plane landed safely few minutes later.
It’s not the first time this kind of incidents to happen in Brazil. On July, 2023, pilots had visual contact with a big balloon carrying the Brazilian flag at almost 35,000 ft.
