A British passenger on a Ryanair flight from Zadar, Croatia to London Stansted Airport tried to open the aircraft door while it was taxing to the runway for takeoff.
Two other passengers intervened and knocked him to the floor before he could succeed. He was held on the floor until the plane came to a stop.
Footage of the incident, which has since been shared on social media, shows the man standing up in the aisle of the plane and shouting at other passengers and cabin crew. He then raises his clenched fist and lunges for the plane’s door.
The man, who has not been identified yet, was reportedly taken into custody by police. It is not yet known what prompted his behavior.
The woman who filmed this incident said most people on the flight were returning from the Hideout festival in Croatia at the end of last month. She claimed that the man was drunk and under the influence of drugs.
“This flight from Zadar to London Stansted returned to stand when an individual passenger became disruptive while preparing for take-off. The passenger was removed from the aircraft by local police before this flight continued safely to London Stansted,” said an airline spokesperson.
