A pilot came to the rescue and helped staff find a passenger’s lost passport, just minutes before taking off.
Will Novak and his wife Veronica, from Phoenix, Arizona, had just arrived on the Airbus A320 at Heathrow International Airport in London when she realised her bag was missing.
The frantic couple waited by the gate where they stopped the two BA pilots yesterday, June 27.
Quick-thinking Captain Will Rowlings used his common sense to swerve red tape and simply texted the pilots that had boarded the same plane for its next journey.
The new pilot was moments from having the jet pushed back by the tractor when he ordered the crew to rummage through the seats to find the missing item.
He then collected the purse – which contained Veronica’s passport needed to get through airport immigration – and threw it from the window to a ground worker.
The father then spots his wife’s bag and yells… ‘and that’s Veronica’s purse coming out of the plane, there’s Veronica’s purse, it’s getting dropped down. Amazing. She’s going to get her passport, what a day.’
Relieved Veronica clutched her bag as she posed for pictures with Captain Will Rowlings and his First Officer.
