On November 5, 2022, a company organized a selection process to be part of the cabin crew of an airline.

The recruitment company Meccti advertised jobs for Kuwait Airways. The process took place in a room at the Meliá Barajas hotel, very close to the Madrid airport.

In a publication, Meccti announced the recruitment process for Kuwait Airways and left a link for people interested in the job to register. It also specified some requirements, such as “height and weight in proportion to a minimum height of 160 cm”, “medically in good shape, able to pass a medical examination in Kuwait” or “an excellent appearance in general”.

From the beginning of the tests, offensive comments were said according to a candidat: “We don’t like your smile.” “You have the roller coaster body.”

After a speech about the airline and the industry, the first test consisted of holding conversations in English between applicants. “They fired people who spoke super good English, but who were 37 years old. Also people who had tattoos.

The boys, there were only three of them, were told that they would not hire them because they don’t hire men unless they are from Kuwait.

When the recruiters had already ruled out a part of the candidats, the rest were ordered to enter, one by one, in a room. There, in the presence of a woman, they had to unbutton shirts, pull up sweaters and skirts: they had to stay in their underwear for the recruiter to examine their bodies, an illegal practice in Spain.

The Meccti company claims on its website to be the “leader in the provision of recruitment and training services to international airlines”.
