Delta Airlines recently announced that it has entered into a new partnership with Apple and AT&T to equip its 19,000+ flight attendants with new iPhone 12s.

AT&T stated that it had reached a partnership with Delta to enhance the travel experience for all passengers with the power of AT&T’s nationwide 5G network.

This new deal will help the airline speed up passenger check-in, assist passengers, answer queries and check inventory instantly. This program will begin late this summer, and the new iPhones will be equipped with the airline’s SkyPro app.

“Our flight attendants are the finest professionals taking to the skies day in and day out, so when we were looking for outstanding products that meet the Delta standard, Apple and AT&T were top of mind,” said Allison Ausband, Senior Vice President, In-Flight Service.

“This relationship is a step toward the future of a more connected and human onboard experience.”

Delta will also become the first airline to have complete access to AT&T’s nationwide 5G network. The fastest chip in a smartphone will also provide flight crews with immersive training materials, including videos, photos and augmented reality (AR) experiences.

According to the airline, this will also provide the crews with the latest inflight catering inventory. The FA’s will use the camera and AR on iPhone 12 to visualize where items are stowed.

“Our visionary collaboration with Delta Air Lines is proof that connectivity is more than just a means to an end. We are thrilled to work with Delta to empower their employees and create new 5G-enabled experiences on iPhone 12 to fuel and invigorate the commercial airline industry for years to come,” said Rasesh Patel, Chief Product & Platform Officer, AT&T Business.

Delta will continue to work with Apple and AT&T to develop new applications that will help Delta continue to set new standards for service.
