Flight simulator games, like the Microsoft Flight Simulator, give aviation enthusiasts the perfect opportunity to know what it’s like to be up in the air and behind the cockpit. For gamers, it provides a unique gaming experience compared to many other games out there.

Flight sims have been around for years, with many of them appearing on PC devices for decades. They provide stunning visuals, give people an entirely unique flying experience to what they are used to, as well as giving an insight into what it takes to pilot a plane. Flight simulators are certainly different to DC superhero games at mansioncasino.com/uk or popular mobile titles like Among Us, but they offer something many other creations don’t and require a certain amount of skill that others games arguably don’t require either. Plus, if you’re into role-playing and like the idea of flying a plane from takeoff to landing, then flight simulators provide the type of excitement many other games simply can’t offer.

Over the years, numerous flight simulator games have won over both the aviation and the gaming community. With that in mind, we thought we’d go through some of the best ever flight simulator games.

X-Plane

A popular flight sim today, X-Plane offers an extensive look at just what it entails to be able to fly a plane. The game comes with impressively accurate mechanics and visuals which help separate it out from many other flight simulator games, particularly on PC. X-Plane isn’t the easiest game to master, but once you do, you’ll struggle to better it. The graphics are superb and contribute massively towards what is one of the most realistic flight sims you’ll ever play.

Microsoft Flight Simulator

A classic creation from the genre, Microsoft Flight Simulator is a series of games which are truly iconic in terms of flight simulators. In fact, the games are up there with being one of the longest-running PC game series of all time. You can fly anywhere in the world, be in charge of the routes you take, alongside having the option of building your very own plane. From there, you are instructed to carry out various missions in order to advance further through the game.

Digital Combat Simulator

A creation from 2008, Digital Combat Simulator is a series of games from the simulator genre. In terms of accuracy, they nailed it with this one. The graphics wouldn’t stand up today, but for its time it was fantastically entertaining. You can use the mission editor for user-created tasks, complete missions and enjoy a truly iconic flight sim.

Star Fox

Released on Nintendo 3DS and, more recently, on Wii U, Star Fox was undoubtedly aimed at a younger audience instead of the hardcore aviation enthusiasts among us. A fun take on a flight sim, Star Fox provided gamers with the opportunity to explore a polygonal environment and fly around it with relative ease. The core gameplay was flawless at the time of the game’s release, and it would still hold up in today’s gaming world. It isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, though.

X-Plane 11 Global Flight Simulator

Released in 2017, X-Plane 11 Global Flight Simulator can be played on both mobile and desktop, and offers visually stunning graphics from the cockpit. Alongside that, you can build your very own airplane, change the flight conditions, and design an airport. All of your accomplishments can be shared with your fellow players, too. The game is about as realistic as it gets. Rumours have emerged suggesting that it is used for flight training purposes on occasions also, although nobody knows that for sure.
