So far, United has cancelled all flights into and out of Houston Intercontinental Airport for Wednesday as Hurricane Laura approaches Texas, and a few flights Tuesday evening have been cancelled as well.
Currently, United is operating 225 flights per day in Houston, a significant reduction due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Passengers affected by Hurricane Laura are being automatically rebooked onto later flights or rerouted if they were scheduled to just pass through United’s hub airport. An airline spokesperson said, “for passengers using the United app, nearly all of them have already been notified of the travel disruption due to the hurricane and have already been re-accomodated onto other flights, changed their day of travel or issued a refund.
An airport statement has advised all passengers to check with their airline before coming to the airport to see if their flight will operate your flight. So far, Delta, American and Spirit have also been allowing their passengers to change their travel as a result of the hurricane.
