Air Baltic orders 30 additional Bombardier CS300 aircraft, plus 30 options.
The Latvian carrier Air Baltic (brand name airBaltic) and Bombardier announced that the two parties have reached an agreement for the purchase of 30 Bombardier CS300 with options for another 30 aircraft of this type. It adds to the existing order of 20 CS300 aircraft, of which eight have already been delivered.
In September 2017, Air Baltic said that it is looking for aircraft to replace its aging Bombardier Dash 8 and Boeing 737 classic fleet and stated that the carrier will likely ‘buy at least 14’ additional Bombardier CSeries, until the end of 2018. It will retire all Dash 8 and 737s within the next three years. The airline later confirmed this statement to AIRLIVE.net during ILA 2018 in Berlin.
Air Baltic currently operates a fleet of 12 Bombardier Dash 8 Q400, 6 Boeing 737-300, 5 737-500 and 8 CS300, with now 42 (+30) more to come.
