Vancouver International Airport is hosting a training exercise simulating an aircraft accident at YVR to practice emergency response plans with business partners, airlines and emergency responders. Regular operations will proceed as normal.
The exercise will have an airside and terminal component that may be visible to the public. Volunteers will be playing the part of injured passengers at the simulate crash zone, and family and friends of victims in public areas of the Domestic and International Terminal Building. To make the simulation more effective, theatrical make-up will be used on injured passengers.
Everyone participating in the exercise will be clearly identified with a vest, nametag or white baseball cap and signs will be posted throughout the airport. We will also post a message on our website as well as on our social media channels. However, customers and passengers may still come to you with questions. Please feel free to share this information with them.
Regular testing of the Emergency Management Plan and training response personnel are integral to the Airport Authority’s emergency preparedness program.
