An American Airlines jet had to make an emergency landing Tuesday morning after a bird hit its windshield shortly after take-off from John F. Kennedy Airport, airline officials say.
The plane, American Airlines flight 1320 bound for St. Thomas, had taken off and was in the air for about 10 minutes when a bird struck the plane’s windshield, the airline said.
The plane safely landed at about 8:45 a.m. and Port Authority firefighters responded to the aircraft. The vessel was being evaluated for airworthiness; it’s not clear how much damage the impact caused.
None of the crew members or the 126 passengers on board the plane were injured, authorities said.
