ORLANDO, Fla. — A Delta Air Lines flight carried on to its destination on Monday morning after encountering multiple bird strikes, including ingestion into both engines, immediately upon departure from Orlando International Airport.
Flight DL1505, operated by a Boeing 757-200 (registration N698DL), taxied to Runway 35L and commenced its takeoff roll at approximately 8:45 AM EST. As the aircraft reached rotation and pitched up into the air, it struck a flock of birds, ingesting some into both engines.
Despite the impact, the flight crew closely monitored cockpit instruments and engine performance metrics, determining that power output remained stable enough to safely execute the climb out. Rather than returning for an emergency landing in Orlando, the pilots safely guided the aircraft up to a cruising altitude of 29,000 feet.
The Boeing 757 continued its scheduled route north to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), landing smoothly roughly an hour later.
No injuries were reported among the passengers or crew. The aircraft was expected to undergo a thorough technical inspection in Atlanta to assess any potential fan blade or structural damage before returning to service.
