A flight to Charlotte experienced an engine incident on departure from Harry Reid International Airport.

The American Airlines flight AA1665 departed Las Vegas Airport from runway 1R but stopped the climb at only 4,000 feet reporting an emergency to Air Traffic Control.

The Airbus A321 (registration N157UW) suffered a right engine compressor stall, possibly due to a bird strike.

The aircraft landed back on runway 1L at Harry Reid International Airport only 8 minutes later.

According to the FAA, the plane returned safely to Harry Reid around 8:20 a.m. and the agency will investigate.
