A Ryanair flight operating from Brussels to Porto has declared an inflight emergency and is actively diverting to Paris Beauvais-Tillé Airport (BVA).

PARIS — Flight FR1386, operated by a Boeing 737-800 with registration EI-DPP, departed Brussels Airport earlier today on a routine scheduled flight to Portugal. However, approximately 45 minutes into the journey, while cruising at an altitude of 33,000 feet, the flight crew made an abrupt decision to turn the aircraft around.

Shortly after reversing course, the crew broadcasted a squawk 7700, the international transponder code signaling a general emergency.

Tracking data shows the aircraft initiated a rapid descent out of its cruising altitude. It is currently tracking directly toward Paris Beauvais, a major northern base for the low-cost carrier.

The exact nature of the emergency remains unknown at this time. No official statements have been released by Ryanair or air traffic control regarding whether the issue is related to a mechanical malfunction, a medical emergency on board, or another safety concern.

Emergency ground crews at Paris BVA are expected to meet the aircraft upon arrival as a standard precautionary measure.

This is a developing story. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
