BREAKING: United Airlines Flight Declares Emergency, Returns to San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO — A Chicago-bound United Airlines flight was forced to abort its journey and return to San Francisco International Airport (SFO) on Monday morning after declaring an in-flight emergency shortly after takeoff.

United Airlines Flight UA1568, operated by an Airbus A321neo with registration N34562, departed SFO at 08:30 PDT bound for Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD).

According to flight tracking data, the aircraft was climbing smoothly and had reached an altitude of approximately 26,000 feet when the crew abruptly halted their ascent. Just 20 minutes into the flight, the pilots broadcasted a Squawk 7700, the international aviation transponder code signifying a general emergency.
