A Ryanair flight bound for the United Kingdom was forced to make an emergency landing at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport this evening following an unspecified issue during cruise.

AMSTERDAM – Flight FR7665, operated by a Boeing 737-800 (registration EI-EKM), departed Warsaw Modlin Airport at 18:58 CEST. The aircraft was scheduled to arrive at Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) at 20:15 BST.

According to flight tracking data, the aircraft performed a standard climb to a cruising altitude of 38,000 feet.

The Emergency

While the aircraft was positioned over German airspace, the flight crew transmitted a Squawk 7700 code, the international signal for a general emergency.

Following the declaration, Air Traffic Control (ATC) prioritized the aircraft for a diversion. The pilots initiated a descent and were vectored toward the Netherlands.

  • Diversion Point: Over Germany
  • Landing Site: Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS)
  • Arrival Runway: Runway 27
  • Total Flight Time: 1 hour and 45 minutes

Current Status

The aircraft landed safely in Amsterdam at approximately 20:43 CEST. Emergency services were reportedly on standby to meet the aircraft upon arrival, which is standard protocol for a 7700 declaration.

Ryanair has not yet confirmed the specific nature of the emergency, though “7700” can indicate anything from a technical malfunction to a medical situation on board. Passengers are currently awaiting further information regarding a replacement aircraft or alternative travel arrangements to Leeds.
