Pilots of an Airbus A350 from Paris to Seoul have declared an emergency while flying over Austria.

Air France flight AF264 departed Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport late today at 14:51 CET, more than 30 minutes behind schedule.

The Airbus A350-900 (registration F-HUVC) was cruising at 35,000 feet over Austria when the crew declared an emergency (squawk 7700) due to a burning smell in the cockpit.

After about one hour and 30 minutes into the flight, the aircraft turned left and descended to Munich where it landed on runway 26L.

The flight was met by emergency vehicles at the end of the runway and sat there for 25 minutes before it finally was towed to a remote stand of the airport where passengers are going to disembark.

The airline confirmed AIRLIVE the diversion and is planning a new departure at 18:30 from MUC at this time, yet to be confirmed.

UPDATE #1
Air France is now planning a departure at 22:00.

UPDATE #2
The flight AF264 is cancelled.

UPDATE #3
A Boeing 77-300ER aircraft (registration F-GZNC) currently on its way to Munich to bring passengers back to Paris.
