An Airbus A319 to Riga returned to Athens shortly after takeoff when pilots declared an emergency.
The Air Baltic flight BT612 departed Athens Airport,Greece today at 11:27 EEST to Riga, Latvia’s capital.
The Airbus A319 (registration YR-ABB) took off from right 03R then stopped the climb at only 6,000 feet when the crew noticed a technical issue with the aircraft.
Pilots declared a general emergency (squawk 7700) to require an immediate return to ATH Airport.
The flight landed on the same runway only 19 minutes after departure. The aircraft was met by airport emergency vehicles before it taxied to stand.
