According to preliminary information, a passenger plane crashed shortly after takeoff near Meghaninagar, India.

A plane crash has been reported near Ahmedabad Airport in Meghani, Gujarat. Emergency services are responding.

According to preliminary information, the aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff.

The plane was a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner (registration VT-ANB) operating flight AI171 to London Gatwick.

According to the DGCA, there were 242 people on board, including 2 pilots and 10 crew members.

A British passenger on board #AI171 has miraculously walked away from the wreckage. He was in seat 11A and said there was a huge bang just seconds after takeoff.

So far 265 bodies have been recovered from the crash site of #AI171, 241 occupants of the aircraft and 24 persons on the ground.
