Close to 50 flights of Indian airlines have received bomb threats so far on Tuesday.
Officials across airlines say the trend of threats is changing with different handles targeting different airlines in past 2-3 days.
IndiGo on Tuesday afternoon said 10 of its flights had got threats. At least three of them — Bengaluru-Jeddah (6E 77) was diverted to Doha, Kozhikode-Jeddah (6E 65) to Riyadh and Delhi-Jeddah (6E 63) to Medina.
The aircraft were isolated, and all passengers were safely disembarked.
AI’s Delhi-New York; Akasa’s Bangalore-Varanasi were among the flights getting these threats at the time of filing this story.
Air India said it got 10 threats on Monday-Tuesday night: “We confirm that some Air India flights operating on October 21, 2024 were subject to hoax security threats received on social media.”
Earlier the same handle would issue same number of threats to multiple airlines and now different handles send threats for different numberer different airlines. Govt says it is working to severely punish those sending such threats.
