Flight operations are currently halted at Milan Bergamo Airport, Italy, following an incident with a Ryanair flight.

Runway at Milan Bergamo Airport is blocked following tires burst of a Ryanair flight during landing.

Departing and arriving flights were suspended, major delays are expected.

Five emergency vehicles from the airport and two from the Bergamo headquarters intervened immediately. Passengers disembarked via mobile stairs on the runway.

The aircraft involved in the incident is a Boeing 737-8200 (registration EI-IGI) from Barcelona.

Flight operations are currently suspended as the runway was damaged by the incident. It is expected to reopen in the early afternoon.
