“Bomb on airplane” was discovered mid-flight on tissue paper in lavatory of Vistara flight to Frankfurt.
A Vistara Boeing 787 operating flight #UK 27 from Mumbai to Frankfurt on September 6, 2024, was diverted to Turkey’s Erzurum Airport after a bomb threat was discovered on a tissue paper in the aircraft’s lavatory.
The message, which read “Bomb on airplane,” was discovered mid-flight, prompting the crew to take immediate action.
As per standard security protocols, the aircraft (VT-TSQ) was safely diverted to Turkey, where it landed without any incidents.
Passengers onboard faced an unexpected delay while authorities in Turkey conducted thorough inspections of the aircraft.
If the threat is determined to be a hoax, the flight will resume its journey to Frankfurt. “Handwriting analysis should be conducted to identify the individual responsible for this note,” a senior pilot commented, adding that such incidents cause significant inconvenience to passengers and financial losses to airlines, in addition to disrupting flight schedules.
The safety and security of our customers, crew, and aircraft remain our highest priority. We have fully cooperated with the relevant authorities to ensure mandatory security checks are completed.
