Virgin Atlantic flight #VS226 departed Orlando, FL on Friday, August 30 2024 at 10:00pm EDT for a 8-hour flight to Edinburgh, UK.
The flight was operated by an Airbus A350-1000 (registration G-VELJ), delivered to the airline only 4 months ago.
While starting the descent from cruising altitude of 39,000 ft, the pilots squawked 7700 (general emergency) North of Ireland.
Due to a medical situation on board, the emergency crew was alerted of the issue at Edinburgh Airport.
The Airbus A350K landed shortly before 11:00 on runway 06 and taxied to the gate.
