A Boeing 737-800 overruns the runway while landing at Malabo International Airport

Ceiba Intercontinental 737-800 overruns the runway while landing at Malabo International Airport in Equatorial Guinea.

Passenger video shows the aircraft came to a stop at the end of the runway in the grass. Passengers and crew evacuated the aircraft safely via emergency slides. No injuries have been reported.

The Minister of Civil Aviation and Airport Infrastructure of Equatorial Guinea, Norberto Bartolomé Monsuy Mañe Andeme, says that the incident was caused by meteorological issues.

Malabo, Equatorial Guinea based Ceiba Intercontinental airline plane did a Runway excursion.

“The plane managed to land, but the weather conditions, which included very poor visibility and rainwater on the runway, caused the plane to slide off the runway into an unsuitable area,” he added.
