On 14th June 2024, an Antonov AN-26 hit a fence on approach to Utrenny Airport in Russia, injuring both pilots and a passenger.
The Antonov An-26 with registration RA-26662 was operating flight UTR9796 from Sabetta to Utrenny Airport (USDM) in Russia.
The aircraft, built in 1979, struck a perimeter fence while on approach and impacted the ground roughly 1 kilometer short of the runway. According to reports, reduced visibility due to fog was a contributing factor.
The plane, which carried 41 people including crew and passengers, slid across the snow before coming to a rest in a ditch, causing the forward fuselage to break apart.
Two pilots and a female passenger sustained injuries, none requiring hospitalization at this time.
“At 15:40, the aircraft owned by Utair, which was on a charter flight on the route Sabetta – Morning, made a hard landing two kilometers from the morning airfield. There are victims, it is specified.”
Ural Transport Prosecutor’s Office told RBC.
The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
