Earlier today, a Jetstar plane Airbus A320 veered off a runway onto grassland after landing at Christchurch Airport, due to a steering issue.
The Airbus A320-200, with registration VH-VFF was operating flight JQ225 from Auckland to Christchurch. However, shortly after landing in Christchurch, the aircraft experienced an unexpected change in direction.
As a result, the plane veered to the right on landing, coming to rest partially on the runway-adjacent grass.
Jetstar officials stated the incident occurred at low speed, and that the A320 was subsequently towed to its gate where all passengers safely disembarked.
Following the incident, the main runway (02/20) at Christchurch Airport was temporarily closed. No one was injured and the officials have now reopened the runway.
At least six arriving and five departing flights were reportedly canceled at Christchurch Airport as the runway was being cleared.
