Russian charter flight with 6 people disappears over Afghanistan.
Russian aviation authorities said on Sunday a Russian-registered plane with six people thought to be on board disappeared from radar screens over Afghanistan the previous night, after local Afghan police said they had received reports of a crash.
Russian aviation authorities said in a statement the plane was a charter ambulance flight operated by a Dassault Aviation Falcon 10 jet built in 1978.
The aircraft operated on an ambulance flight from U-Tapao Airport (Thailand) to Moscow-Zhukovsky Airport (Russia) with refueling stops at Gaya Airport (India) and Tashkent International Airport (Uzbekistan).
A low fuel diversion attempt was made to Kulob Airport (Tajikistan).
UPDATE Reports that the two engines ‘malfunctioned’ and, losing fuel, the pilot requeted an emergency landing at Kulob airfield in Tajikistan.
