A passenger has died on a flight from Tenerife to Glasgow on December 29.
The incident occurred on a TUI flight BY1573 from Tenerife to Glasgow.
The Boeing 737 MAX 8 departed Tenerife at 17:35 local time to the UK.
Approximately one hour later, at 6:20 pm, the procedures for the urgent change of direction were initiated.
In just under 20 minutes, the plane ended up landing at Madeira Airport.
A woman was suffering a cardiac arrest mid-flight.
Despite the efforts of firefighters and the EMIR (Rapid Intervention Medicalized Team) in Madeira, they were unable to save the passenger.
The flight continued its route into Glasgow 2 hours later.
