On the 3rd of November, 2023, a private aircraft, carrying the Nigerian Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and his associates, has crash-landed in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The Flint Short Aero, a Raytheon Hawker 800 (H25B) aircraft with registration number 5N-AMM was reported to have had an initial contact with the control tower at 18:56 seeking an extension, which was granted by the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA).
According to reports, the private jet was cleared for an RNAV approach at Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport, Ibadan. However, the plane skidded off the runway as the aircraft landed short of the threshold by about 50 meters and eventually skidded into a bushy area close to the runway.
Emergency officials met the aircraft and helped all passengers and crew members to be safely evacuated.

The Nigerian Metrological Agency, NiMET, had issued a travel warning based on unstable weather during the time of the incident.
In addition, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has also advised pilots and airlines to exercise caution over hazardous weather as the dry season approaches.
Some sources claim that the aircraft had no permission to operate commercial charter flights as it is registered under a Permit for Non-Commercial Flights.
