Southwest #WN307 returned to Houston after right engine started to spit flames

A Southwest Airlines plane returned to Houston quickly after departure following an engine incident.

Flight #WN307 from Houston to Cancun departed at 6:50pm CDT, on 15 August 2023.

The right engine suffered malfunction quickly after takeoff. The CFM engine of the Boeing 737-700 started to to spit flames.

The aircraft (reg. N7737E) made a safe landing on Runway 4, 45 minutes later.

“Southwest Flight #307 from Houston to Cancun returned to Hobby Airport to check out a potential mechanical issue. The plane was then taken out of service after safely landing” said the airline in a statement.
