The pilots informed ATC of an incident on board and requested an emergency landing.
The 16-year old aircraft descended from 36,000 ft to 22,000 ft to start dumping fuel over the Irish sea to reduce landing weight.
The Airbus A340 (reg. D-AIHP) landed at 18:03 BST at Manchester Airport, more than 3 hours after take off form Munich.
Once landed, Police removed a disruptive passenger.
The flight resumed about one hour later.
