A GOL Boeing 737 was forced to reject the take-off while it was accelerating for take-off at Rio de Janeiro-Santos Dumont Airport.

The Boeing 737-800 with registration PR-GXH was scheduled to depart as flight G32040 from Rio de Janeiro to Porto Alegre. However, in the early stages of the take-off run on runway 20L, the aircraft experienced a series of engine surges.

Following the engine surge, Flight G32040 vacated the runway at the next exit and returned safely to its parking stand.

“The decision was taken at the beginning of the race at low speed in the first meters of the runway at Santos Dumont airport. The crew complied with the procedures provided and returned to the parking position to disembark, which occurred uneventfully,” said an airline spokesperson.
