A firefighting Pezetel aircraft has crashed in Greece.
An accident with a firefighting Pezetel aircraft occurred in Macherado, Zakynthos. A small fire broke out in the area and the aircraft rushed to provide assistance in the firefighting efforts.
The pilot managed to make a crash-landing while the aircraft ignited.
At the last moment, the pilot managed to leave the plane, he is in good health and has not suffered any injuries.
The aircraft was accompanied by another fighter jet and had been sent to reinforce the ground forces from the air to extinguish a small fire in the area of Lagopodo-Macherado.
More than 1,000 firefighters and nearly 20 aircraft are now battling major fires across Greece, while extra firefighters, planes, helicopters and vehicles were arriving from France, Switzerland, Romania, Cyprus, Croatia, Israel and Sweden.
