United Airlines will require all new hires based in the United States to be vaccinated against COVID-19 from June 15.
According to the Chicago-bassed airline, all new employees must upload their COVID-19 vaccine card in “My Info” no later than 7 days post-hire date. In an internal note, the airline said:
“As we welcome new employees to the company, it’s important we instil in them United’s strong commitment to safety. As part of this commitment, effective for all job offers made after June 15, 2021, we will require any external candidates for U.S.-based jobs to attest that they have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by their start date.”
However, new employees who aren’t vaccinated due to some medical or religious reasons will be able to apply for a reasonable accommodation process.
United is the second major to have introduced such a policy in the United States. Last month, Delta introduced similar rules. According to Delta, more than 60% of its employees are already vaccinated.
