Common Airline Passenger Complaints

People love to travel. They enjoy visiting other countries to try their cuisines, traditions and see their famous landmarks. For some people, air travel is the most efficient and fastest way to get to these exquisite sites. Although similar to any other mode of transportation, it has also received its fair share of complaints. Almost everyone who travels a lot has most likely encountered air travel problems. In this article, we will be discussing a few complaints from air passengers so that you can prepare yourself for the following issues when traveling.

Lost Baggage

This is one of the most frequently reported issues in air traveling. Passengers often complain about how the airlines simply lost or even damaged their baggage. Oftentimes, people who experienced this would need to wait for ages at the airport. The worst possible scenario would be when they missed their flight and had to wait for the next one. Although there are also some cases when passengers would lose their belongings, leaving them with nothing but their damaged luggage. One way to avoid these types of situations is to refrain from putting valuable items in your carry-on bag. You can also put padlocks on each of your luggage to ensure that they are safe and secure. Paying for an excess valuation charge can also serve as a safety net in case you lose your belongings.

Delayed Flights

Passengers would also experience delayed or even canceled flights. And the most infuriating part is that this often happens, sometimes even without warning from the airline. These delayed or canceled flights happen because of natural causes such as the weather, under-staffing, or few aircraft. To compensate for this inconvenience, the Air Passenger Bill of Rights states that refreshments or meals should be offered to the passengers if there is at least a three-hour delay in their flight. Passengers should also have the right to rebook or even refund their tickets. Other airlines should also offer their services to passengers who experienced delayed flights.

Customer Service

Adding up to the list of common complaints is an airline’s customer service. It usually takes forever for a customer to contact the airlines. There are a few reasons why customers try to get in touch with the airlines. It could be because there has been a cancellation in their flight, they want to make slight changes before they go on with their trip, or there have been overcharges in their payment. If you have encountered any of these issues, you may check some information online on how you can properly file airline complaints. It is also best to wait until you have cooled down until you type out your complaint as you want to be straightforward but respectful in your message.

As a traveler, preparing for a trip does not stop at making sure that you are good-to-go and packed. It is essential to know your rights as a traveler, as there are times when these situations are inevitable. You should know how to defend yourself to ensure that you are well-compensated when you face any inconvenience, whether from terrible customer service, lost baggage, or delayed flights.
