A light plane has made the first landing at Nancy Bird Walton Airport – 5 years before construction of the runway is due to commence.
The Piper PA28 was forced to make an emergency landing at the construction site today. The airport is being built as Sydney’s second international airport to help relieve pressure on the Kingsford Smith Airport
The Piper PA28 was on a training flight with two people on board. The Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications said the plane suffered a throttle jam issue.
No one was injured and the Australian Transport Safety Bureau will review the incident but did not anticipate any investigation.
