Ryanair is asking French airports to remove or reduce taxes until October 2021 in order to resume flight operations.
In a letter signed by Niall O’Connor, Director of Route Development, the Irish airline says it is preparing to relaunch its operations “as soon as the travel restrictions are lifted by the States”.
Reading O’Connor, it will take “at least” three years for Ryanair to return to its level of activity in 2019 “.
He adds that French airports will have to respect its new conditions, to ensure that Ryanair maintains operations at those airports:
- To pay no landing tax or any fee per passenger transported Until the end of October 2020
- No landing tax and a passenger fee reduced by half from November to March 2021
- From April to October 2021, the passenger tax halved and no additional charge for new destinations that would be opened
