A PLANE bound for Paris from Mexico City has been diverted to Shannon Airport following reports of a fire on board.
The Aeromexico Boeing Dreamliner 787 AM3 was diverted following reports of a suspected fire in the cargo hold. The plane landed at Shannon just before 3pm and all passengers have disembarked safely.
A number of fire crews and emergency vehicles were on the runway to greet the plane when it landed at Shannon, where it is being assessed, a spokesperson has said.
“The aircraft landed safely at 14.50, all passengers disembarked and the plane is currently being assessed.”
The plane, which can carry more than 300 passengers, left Mexico City last night and was due to arrive in Paris at around 4.30pm GMT.
