BANGKOK — Etihad Airways has officially touched down in Thailand with its flagship Airbus A380 for the first time, marking a major expansion milestone for the UAE’s national carrier as the double-decker aircraft landed at Bangkok this morning.

The inaugural flight launches a new daily A380 service connecting Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport (AUH) and Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) in Bangkok.

Expanding Capacity for Peak Travel Season

The deployment comes just as the peak winter travel season gets underway, addressing surges in demand between Thailand, the Middle East, and Europe. Bangkok joins a growing list of key Asian destinations served by Etihad’s superjumbo fleet, following the rollout of daily A380 service to Tokyo in June 2026.

“The arrival of our A380 in Bangkok is a significant milestone and another example of how we are investing behind strong customer demand,” said Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways. “Thailand is an important premium market for Etihad, and deploying our flagship aircraft allows us to increase capacity while bringing our most distinctive guest experience to the route.”

World-Class Luxury in the Skies

The introduction of the A380 elevates Etihad’s product offering across four distinct cabin classes:

  • The Residence: A 125-square-foot ultra-private suite designed for up to two guests. It features a dedicated living room with a two-seater sofa, a separate bedroom with a double bed, and an ensuite bathroom equipped with a full-height shower. Passengers enjoy bespoke fine dining, complimentary Wi-Fi, private lounge access in Abu Dhabi, and chauffeur services.
  • First Apartments: Nine private First Class suites offering a leather reclining chair alongside a separate ottoman that converts into an 80.5-inch flatbed. Guests also enjoy access to an onboard shower room and à la carte dining.
  • Business Class: Located on the upper deck, 70 Business seats provide direct aisle access, converting into 80-inch lie-flat beds. Passengers have access to The Lobby, a serviced lounge and bar area, as well as brand-new LANEIGE amenity kits.
  • Economy Class: Configured for 415 travelers, featuring fixed-wing headrests, 11.1-inch personal screens, USB charging, and options to purchase “Neighbour-Free” seating for extra personal space.

Seamless Global Connectivity

Beyond boosting capacity to Bangkok, the new daily service offers travelers from Thailand streamlined connections through Abu Dhabi to Etihad’s global network across Europe and the Americas. Passengers traveling via Abu Dhabi can also utilize the Etihad Stopover Program, which offers up to two complimentary nights in a hotel to explore the UAE capital during their trip.
