CHICAGO — March 25, 2026 — United Airlines is set to transform the long-haul economy experience with today’s announcement of the United Relax Row℠. This innovative seating configuration allows a row of three economy seats to convert into a flat “couch” surface, offering a premium level of comfort for passengers who want to stretch out without the Business Class price tag.
A New Way to Sleep at 35,000 Feet
The United Relax Row features three dedicated seats equipped with individually adjustable leg rests. These rests fold up to a 90-degree angle, bridging the gap between the seat and the row in front to create a seamless, flat surface.
Whether it’s a solo traveler looking to lie down, a couple wanting extra room, or a family with small children, the Relax Row is designed for maximum versatility. To enhance the experience, United is bundling the row with a suite of “comfort-first” amenities:
- Custom-fitted mattress pad
- Specially sized plush blanket and two extra pillows
- Children’s Travel Kit and a plush toy for families
Fleet-Wide Rollout and Availability
Travelers won’t have to wait long to test out the new “couch” seats. United expects to launch the Relax Row in 2027, with a massive scaling plan to outfit more than 200 Boeing 787 and 777 widebody aircraft by 2030.
