IAG has signed a formal agreement with SpaceX’s Starlink to bring high-speed satellite internet to its portfolio of airlines.
IAG (parent of British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus, Vueling and LEVEL) expects to begin installing Starlink hardware across its fleets from 2026. The service will be offered free to passengers across all cabins, the group said, with aircraft near retirement excluded from the retrofit. New deliveries will arrive with the equipment pre-fitted where possible.
“Staying connected in the skies is increasingly important to our airlines’ customers,” IAG chief executive Luis Gallego said. “The introduction of high-speed Wi-Fi from Starlink will transform onboard connectivity, improving both speed and reliability.”
Advertised download speeds will range from 150–450 Mbps, with upload speeds between 20–70 Mbps. Each airline under the group will announce its own detailed rollout timetable in due course.
