Multiple flights to and from Kodiak were canceled after an Alaska Airlines plane struck several deer while landing in the morning.

Alaska Airlines Flight AS231, a Boeing 737 MAX 8, with registration N801AK, arriving from Anchorage, landed around 8 a.m. Thursday, July 24 when it collided with at three deer crossing the runway.

No injuries were reported among the passengers or crew, but the aircraft sustained damage to its main landing gear and will remain grounded in Kodiak for repairs.

As a result, all remaining Alaska Airlines passenger flights for the day—Flights 232, 88, 89, and 177—were canceled, along with the early Friday morning flight to Anchorage. Affected passengers are being rebooked and the airline apologizes for the disruption.

During summer, Alaska Airlines operates three daily round-trip flights between Kodiak and Anchorage—Flights 196, 232, and 88 outbound, and Flights 231, 89, and 177 inbound.
