On Wednesday afternoon, a TUI aircraft suddenly collapsed while parked at the gate at Brussels Airport.
The front wheel of a Boeing 737-700 (registration OO-JAR) collapsed while it was parked. There were no passengers present when the nose came down and the plane tilted.
TUI has already carried out technical checks, but found no errors. During the flight TB1012 this morning from Málaga to Brussels, no technical problems were noticed, says Piet Demeyere. No errors were reported by the pilot either.
TUI said in a statement, “We will carry out an in-depth analysis of the situation in consultation with the authorities, but we can already confirm that no technical problem is at the origin of this incident.”
TUI expects the aircraft to be operational again relatively quickly, but it is not yet clear when. “It is low season anyway, because winter and the Christmas holidays are over,” says the spokesperson about the possible impact on TUI Belgium’s flight schedule.
