A runaway dog named Amalka caused an unexpected disruption at Paris CDG, briefly shutting down two runways and triggering a nine-day search effort.

The emotional support dog escaped her carrier during an unloading operation on November 19 after arriving on an Air France flight from Vienna.

Airport authorities launched a large-scale search, including night operations and drone surveillance. Posters were distributed, and Amalka’s owner, Míša, stayed near the airport, with hotel costs covered by Air France.

Temporary Runway Closure

The search intensified on November 26 when police used a drone to track Amalka, leading to a temporary closure of two runways during off-peak hours. The elusive dog was finally found on November 28 in a park near the airport in Dammartin-en-Goële.

In a video of their reunion, Amalka wagged her tail in delight as Míša embraced her. Air France expressed relief in a statement, confirming that both would soon continue their journey.
