Today, a Dreamliner suffered a compressor stall during takeoff from Rome.

A Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner suffered ab engine issue forcing the crew to return to Rome.

Hainan Airlines flight #HU438 from Rome to Shenzhen departed at 10:00 CEST from runway 16R at Roma-Fiumicino Airport.

Earlier in Rome FCO: a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner Hainan Airlines (B-1119) suffered a compressor stall during take-off to Shenzen as HU438.

The Dreamliner suffered no.2 engine surges during initial climb after takeoff due to a bird strike. The crew maintained 5,800 ft over the sea to burn/dump fuel for about one hour.

The Boeing 787-9 (registration B-1119) safely landed back on runway 16R with right engine shut down.
