A British Airways A380 returned to to Dallas-Fort Worth after landing gear would not retract.
Saturday, October 26 2024, was supposed to be the last time flight #BA192 to be operated by an Airbus A380 from Dallas, however it didn’t go as planned.
The Airbus A380 departed DFW Airport at 8:08pm for a 8-hour flight to London Heathrow.
But right after takeoff, pilots noticed a hydraulic issue as the main landing gear was only partially retracted.
The aircraft (registration G-XLEA) climbed to 20,000 ft and started to dump fuel in order to reduce the weight.
The Airbus A380 returned 2 hours and 36 minutes later for a safe landing on runway 36L.
The flight was cancelled and the plane is grounded for maintenance check.
The Dallas-London route is now operated by Boeing 777W aircraft.
