Air New Zealand flight to Hong Kong returned to Auckland .
Air New Zealand flight #NZ81 departed Auckland Friday, September 13 2024 to Hong Kong.
The flight was operated by a 8-year old Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner (registration ZK-NZJ) which climbed to 36,000 ft.
Almost 2 hours into the flight, while flying over New Caledonia, the crew decided to turn around.
The flight #NZ81 returned to Auckland 4 hours after departure. The airline said the flight was diverted without giving more details.
The flight was finally cancelled and the Boeing 787-9 is still on the ground at the time we’re writing this article.
