A KLM flight from Amsterdam declared an emergency due to a technical issue on final approach to Newcastle.
The flight #KL961 departed Amsterdam Thursday, August 1 2024 at 23:00 CEST for a one-hour flight to Newcastle, UK.
The Boeing 737-900 (registration PH-BXO) was on final approach to runway 25 when the crew decided to go around.
The aircraft climbed back to 3,500 ft and pilots declared an emergency (squawk 7700) due to a hydraulic leak.
The 23-year old aircraft entered an holding pattern for 30 minutes while the crew was dealing with the issue.
The aircraft landed safely at 23:16 BST. Believed to have lost some hydraulic fluid on the runway so other flights were advised to go around during runway inspection before to reopen the runway.
