United Airlines flight to Venice was forced to return to Newark.

United flight UA170 departed late Thursday, June 27 2024 from Newark for a 7-hour flight to Venice, in Italy.

The flight was operated by a Boeing 767-400ER (registration N59053) which is part of the airline’s fleet since almost 24 years.

This specific Boeing 767 already suffered a technical issue 2 months ago, forcing the aircraft to return to the origin airport.

The same situation occurred as the plane climbed to 11,000 ft, entered a hold before returning to Newark about 2 hours later.

The 23-year-plane was replaced by another Boeing 767-400 ER (registration N76065) which departed 2 hours later.

Flight UA170 is expected to land 5 hours late in Venice.
