An Embraer EMB-110 Bandeirante aircraft narrowly avoided disaster after landing on a closed portion of a runway at Boa Vista-Intl Airport in Brazil.

The Embraer EMB-110 aircraft landed on a section of runway 26 that was closed for maintenance, nearly colliding with a nearby maintenance van. The incident, which occurred on Friday, March 2nd, 2024.

While the exact cause remains under investigation, the aircraft’s actions appear to have violated published NOTAMs (Notices to Airmen) which would have indicated the runway closure.

Footage circulating on social media highlights the potential dangers of ignoring established safety protocols.

Fortunately, the quick response of the maintenance crew, who swiftly removed the van from the plane’s path, prevented a potential catastrophe.

Even though the video makes it difficult to definitively identify the specific aircraft involved, the paint scheme suggests it may belong to an air taxi company operating in the region, as reported by Aeroin.

Boa Vista Airport remains operational, with the closed section of the runway properly marked and signed.
